Information Sent by a Visitor
A name, phone number, or address entered in a search box is sent to the outside provider that supplies that result. Our own servers do not keep a copy of the search terms. If a visitor sends a message, the mailbox receives the contents needed to answer it.
Routine Technical Logs
Hosting systems may record an IP address, browser type, viewed URLs, and time stamps. Those records are reviewed in aggregate for uptime and page performance. Where analytics or advertising measurement is enabled, cookies or similar tools may process ordinary visit data.
How the Information Is Used
The limited data supports site operation, fault repair, traffic counts, and page improvements. Walnut Creek Residents Directory does not sell a visitor list or build an individual profile from ordinary use.
External Portals and Services
Links lead to county and state records portals, library collections, archives, and sponsored search tools. Each outside operator sets its own privacy terms, so those policies control information submitted after leaving this reference. The same applies to any result provider embedded in a search box.
Possible Recipients
Hosting and technical support vendors may process the server information described above. Analytics or advertising partners may receive the corresponding technical data where those tools are active. Disclosure outside those uses occurs only when valid legal process requires it.
Security and Retention
The connection uses encryption in transit, and technical logs are retained only for the operational purposes above. No account, password, or personal user profile is maintained on these pages.
Children
The reference is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from someone under 18. If a minor has sent information to the contact mailbox, a parent or guardian may ask for its deletion.
Choices and California Rights
California's Consumer Privacy Act, Civil Code ยงยง1798.100 et seq., provides qualifying rights to know, access, correct, delete, and opt out of sale or sharing, subject to its exceptions. Because this reference retains very little visitor data, a request usually means checking the contact mailbox and available technical logs, then deleting what can lawfully be removed. Use the Contact page to ask. The California Privacy Protection Agency's DROP platform, launched January 1, 2026, offers one verified deletion request to more than 600 registered data brokers; the official materials say brokers begin processing on August 1, 2026 and repeat the process at least every 45 days. Public records held by California, Contra Costa County, or Walnut Creek offices remain under the custodian's control.
Policy Changes
A revised policy takes effect when it is posted here. Continued use after that posting indicates acceptance of the updated terms.
